EZOfficeInventory alternatives in 2026, honestly.
Written by a competitor, so every claim is dated and checkable, and we say when keeping EZO is the right call.
The short answer
EZO EAM prices by item count with unlimited users, from $81.41/mo for 500 items, and gates custody transfers, the request portal and offline behind higher tiers. If you want the same job with items never metered, try ItemTally (€19/mo flat for 5 editors and 50 borrowers; we make it, so weigh this page accordingly). Snipe-IT hosted ($39.99/mo, unlimited assets and users) suits an IT team, and Shelf.nu suits teams that need everyone to have a login. If you use EZO's purchase orders, depreciation or work orders, none of these replace them.

Why people look for an alternative
EZO EAM is a broad asset management suite, and for teams that need procurement, depreciation and maintenance in one place it is a reasonable choice. The reasons people leave are narrower. Prices follow the item count: each plan on its pricing page is “based on 500 items”, with caps on stock units that rise by tier. The features a team reaches for next sit higher up: custody transfers need Advanced, the self-serve request portal needs Premium and the offline app needs Enterprise. And there is no free plan, only a trial.
Users are not the problem, since EZO lists unlimited users. If you have many people and a modest register, EZO may cost less than a per-seat tool. The pinch comes when the register grows or when you need a feature from the next tier.
How to choose in five minutes
Decide what you use EZO for today.
- Lending equipment to people, with due dates and signatures: ItemTally or Cheqroom.
- IT assets and licences: Snipe-IT, hosted or self-hosted.
- A register where every colleague needs a login: Shelf.nu Team.
- Purchase orders, vendors, depreciation or work orders: stay with EZO or look at a full asset management suite. None of the tools here replace those, and ItemTally never will.
Then count how many items you will have in two years. Anything that meters items (EZO, Sortly) gets dearer as you grow. Anything that meters people (Cheqroom, ItemTally past 1 editor, Shelf’s free plan) gets dearer as the team grows. Last, confirm you can get your data out as CSV on the plan you will actually use.
Prices side by side
From each vendor’s pricing page on 5 November 2026 (Cheqroom from 16 October).
| What sets the price | Cheapest paid plan | Free option | |
|---|---|---|---|
| EZO EAM | Items (per 500) | $81.41/mo | Trial only |
| Snipe-IT hosted | Hosting tier | $39.99/mo, unlimited users and assets | Self-host for free |
| Shelf.nu | Users and add-ons | $370/yr for Team, unlimited users | 1 user, unlimited assets |
| Sortly | Unique items and users | $24/mo billed yearly, first year | 100 items, 1 user |
| Asset Panda | Quote | Not published | 7-day trial after a quote |
| Cheqroom | Admins | 3 admins minimum | Not checked |
| ItemTally | Editors and borrowers | €19/mo | 1 editor, 10 borrowers |
Prices are in each vendor’s own currency and may change. EZO’s page does not say whether its figures are yearly or monthly, so ask before budgeting. Our EZO comparison works through three team sizes.
Moving your register out of EZO
Export your items as a spreadsheet and save it as CSV, then map name, asset number, location and your custom fields on import. Keep each item’s barcode value in the file so existing labels keep scanning where the new tool supports it. The switch guide covers ItemTally’s import step by step.

ItemTally
That's us- Best for
- Equipment and stock that people take and return, with the bill not tied to item count
- Price
- Free for 1 editor and 10 borrowers; €19/mo for 5 editors and 50 borrowers; €49/mo unlimited
(That's us.) Items are never metered on any plan, and every feature is on every plan, including reservations, custody with due dates, signatures, the API and self-service taking. What you give up is scope: no purchase orders, vendors, depreciation or work orders, and the offline phone apps are still in testing. Browser scanning works today. See the full comparison.

Shelf.nu
- Best for
- Teams that want unlimited assets and everyone with a login
- Price
- Free for 1 user; Team $370/yr billed yearly, unlimited users

Sortly
- Best for
- Photo-first stock in folders, with a polished phone app
- Price
- Free for 100 unique items and 1 user; paid from $24/mo billed yearly in the first year (2 users, 500 items)
Easy to learn, but it meters unique items and users like EZO meters items, with a small cap per tier. The yearly discount applies to the first year only. It is stock first, so it suits a supplies room better than a loan desk. See our comparison.

Asset Panda
- Best for
- Larger organisations that want a configurable platform and a sales process
- Price
- Quote only. A 7-day trial follows the quote
Configurable and aimed at bigger deployments. Its pricing page publishes no prices, so you can't compare it with EZO's list prices before talking to sales. See our comparison.

Cheqroom
- Best for
- Media, education and rental teams with large equipment pools and bookings
- Price
- Core from 184 per admin a month billed yearly, 3 admins minimum (checked 16 October)
Built around reservations and check-out, with kits and audits on higher plans. It is the closest in spirit to a lending desk and the most expensive here for a small team. Its pricing page was unreachable on 5 November, so the figure is from our 16 October check. See our comparison.

Questions people ask
What is the best alternative to EZOfficeInventory?
It depends on what you use. For lending equipment to people at a flat price, ItemTally or Cheqroom. For IT assets, Snipe-IT. For unlimited assets with every user logged in, Shelf.nu. If you rely on purchase orders or work orders, EZO may still be the right tool.
How much does EZOfficeInventory cost?
On 5 November 2026 EZO's pricing page showed Essential at $81.41/mo, Advanced at $117.11/mo and Premium at $142.10/mo, each based on 500 items, with Enterprise by quote. It did not say whether those figures were yearly or monthly.
Is there a free alternative to EZOfficeInventory?
Snipe-IT is free to self-host, Shelf.nu has a free plan for one user, and ItemTally is free for 1 editor and 10 borrowers with every feature. EZO has a trial rather than a free plan.
Can I move my EZO data to another tool?
Export your items from EZO as a spreadsheet and save it as CSV. ItemTally, Shelf.nu and Snipe-IT all import CSV, and ItemTally shows a dry-run preview before anything is written.
