How to switch from EZOfficeInventory to ItemTally

Export your assets from EZO's listing page as CSV, add a Type column, and match the name, asset number and location columns on upload. Then rebuild what's checked out from EZO's Checked Out Assets report. History, purchase orders and work orders stay in EZO.

What you need

  • An EZO login that can see the Assets listing and Reports
  • An ItemTally workspace, free for one editor and ten borrowers
  • A spreadsheet app, to add one column and save CSV
  1. Decide what you are leaving behind

ItemTally keeps the register, custody, reservations, stock levels with minimums, service dates and the logbook. It has no purchase orders, vendors, contracts, depreciation or maintenance work orders. If your team uses those daily, keep EZO for them and move only the lending side.

  2. Show full location paths

In EZO, turn on the company setting Show hierarchical location in item listings (under Locations). EZO's FAQ says this makes CSV exports carry the whole location path, which ItemTally can turn into folders.

  3. Export your assets

Open the Assets listing and use the export button in the table header to save a CSV. EZO's FAQ lists assets, asset stock, inventory, members, locations, groups and vendors as exportable areas, so export asset stock and inventory the same way if you track counted items.

  4. Export what is checked out

Open Reports, run Checked Out Assets and export it with the report's export icon (CSV or PDF). This is your list of who holds what on switch day. EZO users have reported filters being ignored in some exports, so compare the file with the screen.

  5. Add a Type column

In the assets CSV add a Type column with unique for things you lend one by one. For counted stock such as cables or batteries, use quantity and keep the quantity column.

  6. Upload and match columns

Upload on the Imports screen. EZO has no preset, so match by hand: item name to Name, the asset number or barcode column to Barcode or code so existing labels keep scanning, and the location to Location. Group, brand and model can be Tags or custom fields. EZO does not publish its export's column names, so check each guess in the preview.

  7. Check and import

The Check step lists everything that will be created, the new folders, and the reason for any skipped row. Fix the file and upload again until it is clean. Re-importing the same file later updates matching items instead of duplicating them.

  8. Hand out what is checked out

Using the Checked Out Assets export, scan each item and hand it to its holder with the right due date. Several items for one person go in a basket with one receipt. People who only receive things need no account.

What to check before you switch

  • Approvals and portals. EZO gates its request portal and approvals by plan. In ItemTally borrowers take things themselves on every plan, and folders can require approval or a signature. Check that matches how you approve.
  • Custody on switch day. Pick a quiet day, or one when most gear is back. Fewer items out means fewer hand-overs to re-create.
  • Offline. EZO’s top tier has an offline app. ItemTally scans in the phone’s browser today; the native apps are in testing.

Export steps checked on EZO’s export FAQ and backup FAQ on 7 November 2026. The Checked Out Assets report is described in EZO’s item reports post; its exact menu labels may differ in your version.

Questions people ask

Does EZOfficeInventory's history come across?

No. ItemTally imports items, not custody or past events. EZO's FAQ describes CSV exports of current records and reports. Keep EZO's reports for the past; ItemTally's logbook starts on switch day.

Will my EZO labels still scan?

Yes, if the value printed on them is in your export and you map that column to Barcode or code. Scan one printed label against its imported item before you relabel anything.

What happens to purchase orders, vendors and work orders?

They stay in EZO. ItemTally is not an ERP and has no purchasing or work orders; it keeps service dates with reminders.

Can EZO export everything in one file?

Not as far as its FAQ says. Exports are per area (assets, members, locations and so on) and per report, and EZO offers a paid custom export and import service for larger needs.

How does pricing compare?

EZO's pricing page shows plans based on the number of items. ItemTally is €0, €19 or €49 a month by team size, and items are never metered.
